A quite magnificent 17th Century Spanish Walnut Library or Centre Table having a thick (3.5cms 1⅜) single-plank top resting on sturdy cross bearers housing the single frieze drawer with a pair of horizontal moulded, diamond-shaped fielded panels and probably-replaced metalwork; the most attractive base consists of particularly fine, tightly-turned legs and stretchers with bobbin turnings centrally placed in each of the ring-turned verticals and horizontals and standing on its original toes; with only very minor restorations and having a splendid colour and patina. 190cms Wide x 101cms Deep x 82cms High 6'-2 Wide x 39 Deep x 32 High

A very fine and quite unusual 17th Century 'Square' Oak Double Gateleg Dining Table with the leaf-plank shrinkage being retained by contemporary underbearers. The splendid base with its double gates to provide additional stability has excellent baluster and ring turnings to all horizontal and vertical runs with the legs terminating in ball feet and the twin-arched end friezes have removeable central acorns.
